Kansas City has been working aggressively to honor commitments on this project and to support it moving forward.

This flood protection, which is essential to having safe emergency access to a large portion of the City south of the Missouri River during flooding situations, can be maintained via access from Bruce Watkins Memorial Drive.

This project was authorized in the 1996 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and can be completed in 2011 if adequate Federal funding is provided.
