The Topeka levee system consists of over 40 miles of levee and floodwalls protecting thousands of commercial and residential structures estimated at over $1 Billion in investment value.

The studies to date indicate that there are modifications and upgrades to the levee system that will be required for it to maintain the design level of protection. Failure of a component of the levee system could result in the loss of life and hundreds of millions of dollars in flood damages.
